Transpacific Cultures of Extraction

Transpacific Cultures of Extraction examines the cultural and political dimensions of the new extractive economies emerging from the global demand for critical minerals, rare earths, and digital technologies. Bringing together researchers from the University of Toronto and National Taiwan University, the project investigates how extraction, energy transition, and supply chains are represented, contested, and experienced across the Americas, East Asia, and the Pacific, with particular attention to Indigenous resistance, environmental justice, and the cultural politics of planetary futures.
