IECS Researcher

(2026–Present)

Lila Sparks is a climate justice organizer in her third year, double majoring in Peace, Conflict, and Justice and International Relations. As an amateur photographer, she enjoys incorporating this medium into her academic pursuits. Her research has focused primarily on the social implications of the intersection of technology and the environment. Most recently, her Laidlaw research examined the social and ecological impacts of data centers on Indigenous communities in Canada. Expanding upon these interests, she is currently working on two research projects: the first is examining the governance structures of AI development and its environmental impacts in Canada, and the second is comparing data centre resistance in Turtle Island and France.
