Robert de la Torre

The IECS co-funded (with the CFREF initiative Future Energy System, the University of Illinois-Chicago, and Institute for Creative Exchange) the publication of Robert de la Torre: Art, Violence, and Extraction: Mexico City-Miami-Mumbai-Toronto. De la Torre is a leading contemporary Mexican artist, whose work addresses questions related to the environmental implications of resource extraction. The book launch took place at Museo Universitario del Chopo in Mexico City, one of the museums of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). The event created an occasion to develop new research connections between the IECS, UNAM, and other research organizations in Latin America.
